You enter our retirement community through a traditional southern setting of centennial oak trees, lush landscaping, and a red brick exterior with large white columns lining a relaxing front porch area. Our community is one of comfort and hospitality. The most common comment we hear is, “Your community is so warm and welcoming.” Our lovely apartments are unique. We offer roomy one-bedroom apartments and studios, with huge walk-in closets and a large kitchen area, as well as large walk-in showers. Some have outdoor access to our courtyard area.

Brookdale Colonial Park offers 86 large senior apartments and studios, all on one level for easy access to the dining room, library, large living room, activity center, lanai, rehabilitation therapy suite and courtyard areas. Whether dining with friends in the private dining room, relaxing with a good book in the library, enjoying activities in the activity center, or relaxing on the front porch, it gives our residents and their loved ones the opportunity to choose whether to converse in the privacy of their comfortable senior apartment or in the company of others in the community. We also offer a wide range of activities each month, home cooked meals, and off-site excursions. Each day at Brookdale Colonial Park is about living life to the fullest and letting us take care of all the mundane daily chores.

Through the communications and relationships that we share with key staff within these affiliations, we provide seamless continuum of care for our residents.

Our Staff

Our management team and staff have served many years in both our community and within the senior health care profession. Brookdale Colonial Parkk has been selective when choosing those who will make up this team to serve its residents; only people with heart, experience, and a desire to serve are accepted into this family.

At Brookdale Colonial Park senior living community, we value our residents’ opinions and we rely on their feedback to plan the activities they enjoy. Each day is filled with echoes of laughter in the hallways that stem from a calendar of enriching activities. Choices in social, physical, mental, spiritual, cultural and creative activities are encouraged. Residents enjoy a variety of live entertainment and outdoor excursions, all with the security of knowing care is available if they need it.

We offer a variety of activities based around our resident’s interests, beginning with daily exercises and followed by a day of excitement such as Wii bowling, horse racing, beachball volleyball, coffee chat, craft club, movies and popcorn, and of course Bingo. Our families take weekly bus trips to local stores and personal physicians, as well as to outside events. Resident council decisions are instrumental in planning which entertainers to host and how to best showcase the talents of everyone that lives here.

Partnering with the Local Community

At the end of each month, our local Cub Scouts and Daisy Scouts join us during craft classes, giving our residents a sense of purpose and personal enjoyment. Throughout the summer, the Revelle School of Drama (a local children’s drama school) entertains our community with wonderful plays such as The Lion King, Annie, and many more. This series is a much anticipated event every year. You can’t help but feel a few inches taller after seeing one of these plays. Additionally, we partner with the job training/mentoring program of the Sarasota County School system. We are very passionate about our local Alzheimer’s Association, offering a monthly dinner and support group to anyone in the community.

Fine Dining

Three homemade meals are served each day. A typical lunch or dinner meal offers a salad and choice of two hearty soups to start, an entree and a desert. Meals are served in a restaurant-style atmosphere where residents can enjoy conversation with friends at their table while enjoying a satisfying culinary event. Each morning and afternoon, a snacks and baked good are available at our coffee and beverage stations.
