Details About Brookdale Bassett Road

Here in the heart of the historic village of Williamsville, NY is the premier senior livingmunity of Brookdale Bassett Road, with two distinct senior living communities on one beautiful campus:

  • Brookdale Bassett Road: This single-story community located just across from a beautiful park offers 83 senior apartments dedicated to residents in need of assisted living. In addition, our Memory Care Neighborhood, located in a separate wing of the building, is a small community of 22 studio apartments for residents with Alzheimer’s disease or other memory impairments.
  • Brookdale Bassett Park: Our smaller building, kitty-corner from Brookdale Bassett Road on St. Gregory Court, is home to residents who may require some assistance with daily living needs. From the front patio of this single-story community, residents can enjoy all the goings-on at the elementary school just across the street or walk to St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, just steps away.

The Village of Williamsville, which is part of Amherst, NY, is just one-square mile, yet offers everything our residents could want or need – five quiet wooded parks, churches, quaint shops and restaurants. Milliard Fillmore Suburban Hospital is just around the corner. Families walking their dogs, children enjoying the school playground, church bells ringing on Sunday – this is a neighborhood in every sense of the word, just like the hometowns in which many of our residents grew up.

And for anyone who loves all four seasons, Williamsville has it all – bright blue sunny skies and long warm summer days perfect for barbecues; crisp golden foliage in September and October, perfect for scenic drives; cozy times spent by the fireplace, reading and sharing brisk winter days with close friends; and during the spring, residents can be found planting flowers and vegetables in our campus gardens.

A Wonderful Selection

Our two communities have their own distinct personalities – when potential residents come for a tour, they can feel the spirit and warmth of each community as they chat with staff, meet their new neighbors and get a sense of the layout.

Brookdale Bassett Road: The newly-renovated assisted living community includes studios, deluxe studios and suites, each with a private, handicap-accessible bathroom with handrails; large window that opens out; its own independently controlled heat and air conditioning system; and wall-to-wall carpeting. Our suites are the perfect choice for couples or for a single resident who needs more space. Our internet-accessible computer station, and diverse and specific life enrichment program make it an easy transition for any senior.

Assisted living residents at Brookdale Bassett Road have several common areas, where they can enjoy each other’s company, read quietly, play cards or engage in arts and crafts. The front lobby area is often where we hold many of our daily activities. Just down the hall is our activities room, with an entrance onto an enclosed courtyard. Continue down the hall to our beauty salon, the main dining room and another favorite gathering area where residents can play pool and watch television. The community also has a movie theater with large-screen television and a small library area.

Memory Care Neighborhood: Located in a separate wing of Brookdale Bassett Road, our memory care neighborhood houses up to 22 residents who have their own expertly-trained staff at their fingertips. A Memory Care Director, nurse, multiple caregivers and housekeeper make up the team in our Neighborhood. Common areas, a main open community room with tables, chairs, couches, television and its own kitchenette are just a few of the amenities. The community also has several “life stations,” where residents can engage in familiar activities of the past – a nursery, laundry area, workbench station, for example. The neighborhood opens out onto a spacious enclosed outdoor courtyard, with walking paths, patio furniture, a white picket fence – where residents are always closely supervised by our trained memory care staff.

Brookdale Bassett Park: Our assisted living only community was recently renovated, with all new bathroom fixtures, blinds, carpet and paint. Brookdale Bassett Park’s 76 senior apartments, both studio and suite, are spacious, with large windows and private wheelchair-accessible bathroom, wide doorways, wall-to-wall carpeting, 24-hour emergency response system and independently controlled heat and air conditioning.

Our front lobby with fireplace is often where visiting entertainers perform for residents. In addition, our community offers a fully-equipped activities room, beauty salon, small café area with granite table tops – snacks and beverages are always available here – a computer station, private dining room lounges on each side of the building. Our north lounge doubles as a movie theater and with a grand piano and ample seating, this is where we often have entertainment programs.

Strong, Caring Relationships

For the convenience of our residents, the Weston Paxxon Senior Rehabilitation is located on site, providing occupational and physical therapy in the privacy of our residents’ apartments – much like outpatient rehab services. Of course, residents are always welcome to use any therapist they desire, but if they don’t have a specific individual with whom they like to work, we can make recommendations. All appointments are coordinated through our Resident Care Director, who manages our residents’ individual assisted living care plan.

A variety of other healthcare providers visit residents on campus. These include visiting nurses, mobile labs, podiatrist and each week, nurse practitioners pay house calls to those residents for whom they are the primary care provider. In addition, we can refer residents in need of mental health counseling to a local psychologist, who comes to our community on an as-needed basis, as well as arrange hospice services. A local pharmacy makes deliveries three times a day – with medication managed by our Resident Care Director. Our van is also available for transportation as scheduled by residents.

Our Staff

It may sound like a cliché, but we truly are a family. Many have worked at Brookdale Bassett Road Campus for several years! They get to know residents as well as they know their own family members and go above and beyond – not because they are asked to, but because they want to. They are dedicated to “making a difference every day.” Should a resident need off-site rehabilitation, our staff visits them, just like they might if it were a parent or elderly relative. If a resident asks for something, our caregivers take care of whatever they need, always striving to exceed their expectations. Quite simply, our warm and compassionate team members are always striving to do the best job possible to make sure our residents are well cared for and happy. Communication is key – we meet twice a day to talk about resident needs, and we always encourage family members to talk to us if they have a question or concern.
