While most people understand the term Alzheimer’s disease, there are actually more than 100 types of dementia.  At Arden Courts we understand the different disease processes.   Our caregivers undergo training designed specifically for caring for patients with dementia, such as:

• Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB)
• Frontotemporal Dementia
• Huntington’s disease
• Mixed Dementia

Programming  

To help individuals with Alzheimer’s and related dementias manage to their fullest capabilities and remain actively engaged, we offer:

• Ten hours of active, structured programming throughout the day
• Programming for both individuals and groups
• Activities adapted to each individual’s needs, abilities and preferences

• Unique programs such as Engagement Therapy Treatment

Customized Services and Care

We recognize that residents have their own individual routines and interests, capabilities and needs. We set out to accommodate their individuality beginning with an assessment by one of our professional staff members. Working with you, we develop an individualized service plan that is regularly adjusted to meet any changes in your loved one’s routine or condition. These services include:

Health Services

• Supervision by staff specially trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care
• Professional nurses available 24-hours a day
• Hourly safety check
• Monitoring--blood pressure, vital signs, weight, etc.
• Responding to and treating health problems
• Assisting with medications
• Assistance in arranging medical care, including physical rehabilitation services available

Behavioral, Recreational and Social Services

• Orientation
• Communication
• Socialization and programming
• Managing challenging behaviors
• Advice, reassurance and support

Personal Care Services

• Personal hygiene
• Bathing
• Dressing and undressing
• Mobility – help with walking, transferring from bed
• Toileting

Food Services

• Three meals per day and snacks
• Special preparation and presentation of food to meet the unique needs and varied abilities of our residents and respect cultural and religious choices
• Assistance with dining and eating if necessary
