Brookdale Medina South, formerly Emeritus at Medina, is a Medina, Ohio Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Caremunity for seniors. Located near I-71, yet nestled in a rural setting, our senior community offers 90 apartments on one floor for easy access.
While we are located in a rural area, Brookdale Medina South is convenient to stores and restaurants. Several parks are close by including Buckeye Woods Park, Chippewa Lake, Hubbard Valley Park and River Styx Park. Our senior retirement community is also convenient to Medina General Hospital which is a Cleveland Clinic hospital.
A Wonderful Selection
Our community is an all brick assisted living community consisting of 90 senior apartments. We offer four sizes/styles of apartments. We have nurses and resident assistants on duty 24 hours a day. Our residents can receive up to six levels of care with in our "senior-living-solutions/assisted-living/">assisted living neighborhood. In addition, we have a secured "senior-living-solutions/memory-care/">Alzheimer’s/dementia community which provides increased care.. All of these living options and care levels allow each resident to have their own individual plan to meet their personal needs. It allows each resident to stay as independent as possible. Senior Living Community
The community features 90 senior apartments all on one story including studio, studio deluxe, one-bedroom and one-bedroom deluxe floor plans. Homemade meals are served restaurant-style three times a day in our spacious dining room. Other community amenities and services include a library, activity room, chapel, scheduled transportation, medication management and a beauty salon/barber shop.
Our Staff
Our staff is here to offer that helping hand but only when you need it. Our full range of assisted living services are designed to help you maintain your health so you can live independently as possible. We strive to instill in all team members a sincere belief that their individual contributions are important to residents’ well being and to the success of the organization. Our staff continues to grow as an integral part of our senior living community and team. We have 24-hour nursing and resident assistants on-site to lend a helping hand during your time of need.
Accomplishments
Brookdale Medina South was deficiency-free for 2010 and also voted “Best of the Best Assisted Living Community” in Medina County for the past eight years.

It’s important to promote and not just permit our residents to pursue physical, mental, social, spiritual, emotional health and well-being. It’s likely our residents were very active in all aspects of their lives prior to moving to our community. We pride ourselves in learning about our residents’ life history, habits and preferences so we can organize events and activities that benefit your residents by connecting them to their unique passions and provide them the opportunity to interact with others who share those passions.
The activity and social programs here at Brookdale Medina South encompass a wide range of activities according to resident’s interests, hobbies and active life styles. On a monthly basis, our residents enjoy the R.O.M.E.O and J.U.L.I.E.T luncheons as well as bingo parties and our birthday bash.

Partnering with the Community
Brookdale Medina South is an integral part of the Alzheimer’s National Memory Walk team as we participate in the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk each year in September located at the Medina Square.
Brookdale Medina South is passionate about being active in the community of Medina. Our focus is to hold events that add value and quality to the lives of others. A variety of events are held here at the community each month. We hold monthly Alzheimer’s support group meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM in the private dining room.
Fine Dining
Three restaurant-style meals are served each day in the community dining room. There is always an array of items to choose from. Meals are served on fine china with cloth linens in a restaurant-style atmosphere so residents can enjoy conversation with the company of their friends and family while enjoying a satisfying culinary experience. Meals last an hour and half and you have the luxury of coming to the dining room any time within those hours. In the event of an illness, a tray service to the apartment will be provided.
