Brookdale Grants Pass, formerly Emeritus at The Springs Senior Living Campus, is set on 25 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds adjacent to the wild and scenic Rogue River. Our quiet park-like setting in a residential area of Grants Pass features three main buildings:
- Brookdale Grants Pass Cottages is a graciously appointed spacious munity with high ceilings and walls of windows that frame spectacular views of the nearby mountains and flood the community with natural light.
- Brookdale Grants Pass Village Assisted Living has 70 retirement apartments, as well as 12 independent cottages located in a neighborhood setting with its own street, pathways and even mailboxes.
- Brookdale Grants Pass Pointe memory care offers four individual neighborhood communities each with 14 private studio-style apartments and two lovely secured courtyards. Brookdale Grants Pass Pointe is considered one of the best memory care communities in Southern Oregon.
All of our buildings are interconnected with paved pathways making it easy for residents to take full advantage of our “continuous senior living community.” This unique continuing care environment also allows residents to easily transition from one care level to the next and allows couples to remain on the same campus together even if one can live independently but the other requires assisted living or memory care.
Our campus is located just across the legendary Rogue River from downtown Grants Pass, a large town of 34,000 residents surrounded by mountains and ancient forests. Grants Pass is a destination for many people wishing to experience all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer including our own residents. In fact, with two buses and a van, we are able to take residents on all kinds of outings to Seven Feathers Casino in Canyonville, the Wildlife Safari in Winston, Redwood National Park and Crater Lake National Park. These are all easy day trips and we even take adventures to the Oregon Coast, for lunch, shopping and sight-seeing.
Right in our own neighborhood are all kinds of shops and stores like Albertson’s and Wal-Mart, antique stores, specialty shops and art galleries which are all located in our historic downtown. We are also fortunate to have a wide variety of restaurants in the immediate area and the largest Doctor’s Park, Grants Pass Medical Clinic, as well as Three Rivers Community Hospital are just a half-mile away.
A Wonderful Selection
From independent living through memory care, our continuous senior living community enables residents to remain right here on our campus in familiar surroundings should they need additional services, we offer:
Grants Pass Retirement Living
Our main three-story community offers studios, deluxe studios, and standard and deluxe one- and two-bedroom senior apartments. Our spacious and bright apartments feature high ceilings that flood each room with natural light, kitchenettes with refrigerator, microwave, ample cabinets and stainless steel sinks and handicapped-accessible bathrooms. Built with safety in mind, the apartments include emergency call systems in each room.
Glorious, spectacular and elegant are just a few words that visitors and residents use to describe our retirement living community. From an airy loft with stone fireplace and unique artist gallery which is home to artwork created by our own residents to the Creation Room, which is equipped with a huge quilting machine, our building is like none other. We have a wonderful resident-run gift shop, several lounges with televisions, a game room, Coca-Cola vintage 1950s ice cream parlor as well as our grand dining room which is the focal point of our community. Just off to its side is our billiards room and hardwood dance floor. A wrap-around porch with bistro provides a relaxing place for residents to enjoy peaceful afternoons and evenings, chatting, sharing a glass of wine or enjoying a barbeque.
Grants Pass Assisted Living
Our assisted living community offers 52 studios and 18 one-bedroom senior apartments, each with a kitchenette featuring a two-stage refrigerator, granite countertops, stainless steel sink and handicapped-accessible bathrooms. Some have vaulted ceilings and all are individually temperature controlled. Residents are also given emergency call pendants, worn around the neck, which they can activate anywhere in the building and even just outside should they need assistance.
We also offer 12 1,230-square-foot deluxe cottages, each with two full bedrooms, kitchen with full-sized appliances, fireplace, washer/dryer, wall-to-wall carpeting and ceramic tile in the bath(s) and kitchen and a huge walk-in closet in the master bedroom. A workshop is attached to the garage. And like our entire campus, all cottages have spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and take full advantage of Oregon’s beautiful natural light.
Common areas include our dining room which is located in the main building and is truly a gem. Its two-story high ceilings with huge windows looks out onto the nearby mountains with a fireside loft overlooking the dining area, a Coca-Cola ice cream parlor, billiards room with new pool table and whirlpool spa. All three communities feature a spa and beauty salon.
Grants Pass Alzheimer’s Care
Our memory care community features 56 private studio-style apartments, some with private bathrooms. The building is divided into four neighborhoods with 14 apartments each. Each neighborhood creates a smaller, more intimate community which is important for residents with memory impairments. Residents can stroll from neighborhood to neighborhood because our building is laid out in a circle with two internal courtyards where residents can safely enjoy the out-of-doors. Each neighborhood also has its own common areas and the building itself has one large space where we often have entertainment, family dinners and other large events. It also features high ceilings and lots of natural light. Four “life stations”, a general store, ladies boutique, indoor greenhouse and workshop enable residents to enjoy activities from their past.
Strong, Caring, Professional Relationships
Two in-home care agencies have their offices right here at Emeritus at Spring Meadows. Our residents can choose their therapists who will work with them in their own apartments. Of course, they are also welcome to bring in any other healthcare providers they may have used in the past. In fact, if any of our assisted living residents have a caregiver they feel comfortable with, we welcome that person to provide additional support as needed. Hospice providers also frequent our community and our assisted living and Alzheimer’s care benefit from a visiting physician who makes “house calls” each week. A nurse podiatrist and dental hygienist serve all three buildings on scheduled days. In addition, we provide transportation to doctors’ appointments and a staff person always accompanies our memory care residents.
Brookdale Grants Pass Springs Senior Living Campus is staffed by three highly educated and experienced executive directors. We also have a Memory Care Director who oversees our Brookdale Join Their Journey program, as well as two-full time highly competent registered nurses, 24-hour med techs and many other caregivers.
We pride ourselves on longevity; many staff members have been here for more than 10 years. They stay for one key reason; their commitment to our family of residents. Visitors often tell us that they can see how much our staff cares about residents. For example, recently we found out about an older gentleman who had cancer, but lived on his own in a small trailer on the Oregon Coast. He was literally marooned there. So our staff drove out to his home, loaded up his belongings and brought him here to his new home. He told us that we saved his life. Now, he’s getting the care and medical attention he needs and is doing great!
Our Alzheimer’s Care staff works extremely well together – they are all trained in dementia care and are experts in knowing how to redirect and validate our residents’ feelings and concerns. They do whatever it takes to help residents get the most out of their day – for instance, bringing in their pets to visit and making sure they are engaged in our daily activities.
A Wonderful, Active Lifestyle
Each of our communities offers different activities based on the needs and interests of its residents.
Our Retirement Living community offers all kinds of social events, trips to wineries and nearby lakes and rivers, Tai Chi classes, piano lessons, ballroom dances with live entertainment, summer barbeques and much more. Many activities take place in Spring Meadow’s own clubhouse.
At our Assisted Living community, we offer live musical entertainment each week, bible studies, bingo, baking classes, resident-led discussion groups, pet therapy and all kinds of special events such as antique car shows and holiday dinner celebrations. In fact, we celebrate every major holiday and if there isn’t a holiday one month, we’ll find something to celebrate.
Our Alzheimer’s Care community keeps its resident engaged and active throughout the day with outings to pick vegetables, scenic drives, arts and crafts, professional musical entertainment and even a visit from miniature horses each month. The staff also celebrates every resident’s birthday with cake and ice cream.
We also have campus-wide events to which everyone, including our families, is invited. These include seminars that we invite outside professionals to who speak on a wide range of topics from healthcare providers addressing fall prevention and dementia care to a local attorney providing advice on trusts and deeds.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Our Alzheimer’s care staff works closely with local Alzheimer Association groups and is a vital resource for people within the Grants Pass area who have loved ones suffering from Alzheimer’s and other memory impairments. As necessary, we make our staff available to visit seniors in their homes, sharing important information and helpful advice to their family members. Encouraging them to eat, getting them safely into a car, persuading them to take a bath are activities that we are always happy to make home visits to address.
Our assisted living and Alzheimer’s Care staff is also available to check on seniors in their homes which is an especially important service for family members who live a long distance and cannot visit frequently. We also take it upon ourselves to check on those seniors who have called us or who we know about through a local senior center or church group, making sure they are safe and know that they can rely on us should they need assistance. We view ourselves as a resource for anyone in the community who needs professional guidance and advice in caring for seniors in need.
Fine Dining
Our Retirement Living and Assisted Living communities each have their own dining room where residents are served three meals a day. All meals are included in their monthly rent and provide two entrée options at both lunch and dinner as well as a full salad bar, an always-available menu with soups made from scratch each day, sandwiches, fruit plates, a wide assortment of desserts and more.
Our Alzheimer’s Care community has four small dining rooms and kitchenettes, one for each neighborhood. Residents receive three main meals and three mini meals each day, helping ensure they get proper nutrition. Meals are all homemade and served on colorful plates which help residents more easily distinguish their food. And of course, if a resident wants a grilled cheese sandwich even if it’s in the middle of the night, we will always oblige. Each neighborhood also has a hydration station where beverages are always available and our staff frequently queues residents to drink throughout the day.
