Brookdale Roseburg, formerly Emeritus at Manor House, is a Roseburg, OR Alzheimer’s and dementia caremunity for seniors. This Southwest Oregon town of 22,000 is surrounded by the magnificent Cascade Mountains with the scenic North Umpqua River flowing through the valley.
Views from our community can only be described as breathtaking. Mercy Medical Center, convenient shopping, terrific parks and local attractions are all within a quick drive. In addition, we can easily get to Eugene and to the spectacular Oregon Coast to the west and Diamond Lake to our east.
Roseburg is a wonderful community located in Southwest Oregon, one of the most scenic areas in the United States. This part of the country is home to such spectacular outdoor recreation areas as Diamond Lake, Crater Lake National Park and the Roque-Umpqua National Scenic Byway along the North Umpqua River. With so much to see in the area, we take residents on scenic drives every week. We also visit the Wildlife Safari in nearby Winston where residents are taken on a 4.5-mile drive to view all kinds of animals roaming freely in their natural habitats. Residents also enjoy monthly outings for pizza and twice monthly outings for coffee. We also take our men’s club out for coffee and donuts once a week. And every year, we take all of our residents who are physically able to the Umpqua Festival of Lights at Christmas.

A Wonderful Selection
Brookdale Roseburg is a single-story community offering 56 studio apartments, each with a closet, two built-in locked cabinets with shelves and cupboards, where residents’ toiletries are safely kept, an intercom system so that they can hear music whenever they’d like, call lights, wall-to-wall carpeting and individually controlled heat and air conditioning. All of the apartments have windows and some offer views into the courtyard.
Strong, Caring, Professional Relationships
We have strong relationships with all of the discharge planners at our local hospital and we offer training in how to care for people with memory impairments. We also stay connected with the various assisted living facilities in the area including Bridgewood Rivers Assisted Living and Callahan Village Assisted Living. In addition, our hospice partners including Amedysis Home Health Care and Mercy Home Health/Hospice provide a variety of onsite nursing care services including pain control, wound care and end-of-life care.
Our Community Lifestyle
A Wonderful, Active Lifestyle
Brookdale Roseburg is a warm and welcoming family-oriented community that specializes in the care of residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders. Our highly trained and dedicated staff works hard to make sure our residents are always treated with the utmost dignity. This is one of the key reasons we are considered the best memory care community in the area. We do everything we can to enrich their lives by providing a wide range of activities and often taking residents out into the community on frequent trips to the Wildlife Safari in Winston, on monthly outings for pizza and scenic drives.
Brookdale Roseburg is truly a well-rounded community of care and support. In addition to taking residents on frequent outings, we also offer a full calendar of activities here at the community designed specifically for our special group of residents. While our community is fully secured, it is also very open and provides easy access to our courtyard where you’ll often see residents strolling about. We also offer exercise classes in which we work with residents to help them maintain their range of motion and build strength. Residents also enjoy participating in arts and crafts and various games including bingo. We also have a flower and vegetable garden that residents help care for. They also love watching old-time movies, westerns and musicals on our large-screen television in the lobby, listening to tapes of old radio shows and they never miss our ice cream socials. In addition, church services are held most Sundays.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Our executive director and registered nurse have taught many classes on memory care and behavior management to other professionals in our community including local fire officials, nurses and even college students. The goal is to help them learn how to deal in a sensitive and respectful way with “behaviors,” like wandering, violence or hallucinating without physically restraining or medication Our classes focus on helping first responders and caregivers learn techniques they can use should they find themselves in difficult-to-handle situations.
Fine Dining
We provide three homemade meals each day served in each of the four neighborhood dining rooms. Our meals feature delicious and nutritious favorites like fried chicken, baked fish, BBQ pork, pizza, pot roast and meatloaf to name just a few. Once a week, residents from all four neighborhoods get together for a community meal served on long tables banquet-style. Should your loved one require a special diet, just let us know. We can even cater to vegetarians. Our goal is to give residents the opportunity to do as much for themselves as they can. If they can’t handle silverware but are able to eat with their hands, that’s okay with us. But if they do need help eating or need simple cues to remind them to pick up a spoon, we’re right here throughout the meal to provide any assistance they may require. Because people with memory impairments tend to eat small amounts in one sitting, we always have snacks available like fruits of the season, crackers and cheese, cookies, sandwiches and yogurt.
