Details About Briarwood

Wee to the senior campus in Springfield, Oregon – a property that includes The Briarwood and The Woodside – two distinct assisted living communities designed to give seniors the best of all worlds: the opportunity to choose the setting that best reflects their needs and preferences, with full access to everything each community offers.

The Briarwood is an elegant three-story assisted living community with vaulted ceilings, walls of glass and many common areas for conversation, entertaining, enjoying activities or simply relaxing with friends and family.

The Woodside offers the perfect retirement living option for seniors who prefer a slow pace , with fewer neighbors. Less than half the size of Briarwood, Woodside welcomes residents into its warm, homelike embrace – a home in which the staff and residents truly are family. With both communities located right across from each other, residents take full advantage of all the offerings at each community, from our diverse activities calendar and live entertainment to family dinners and excursions outside of the Springfield area.

The Perfect Location

Just off Main Street (Route 126), our campus community offers easy access to I-5 and everything that the Springfield-Eugene area has to offer. On the east side of the freeway, Springfield is a wonderful small city in the Southern Willamette Valley, between the McKenzie and Willamette rivers. A temperate climate – along with close proximity to Eugene – makes this campus an ideal retirement community. Two hospitals – McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center and Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend – are within an easy drive. We take weekly shopping trips to area malls, Wal-Mart, Safeway, Big Lots, among many other stores, as well as lunch out every week to one of many restaurants in the area.

In addition, residents have ample opportunity to attend live performances at the Hult Center in Eugene, to travel to the Tri Rivers Casino in Florence on the Oregon Coast, to take in the spectacular scenery at various recreation areas close to our community, and to enjoy frequent trips to Willamilane Park Swim Center, which has its own senior center. Just about anything residents would like to do – a Christmas Lights Tour in a limosine bus, an excursion to Story Brook Land in Albany, drives up Deerhorn Country Road – we try to oblige!

A Wonderful Selection

The combination of two entirely different assisted living communities on one conveniently located campus enables residents to match the setting to their needs, preferences and personalities. Residents from each are welcome to enjoy all of the common areas available throughout both communities.

The Briarwood– our larger three-story community – offers 122 assisted living apartments, available in small and large studios, as well as one-bedroom and two-bedroom units – some of which are among the most spacious apartments of any assisted living community in the region. Light and bright, with high ceilings and large windows, all apartments offer a private handicapped-accessible bathroom with walk-in shower; a full kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, cabinets and counters; large closets; individually controlled heat and air conditioning; and an emergency call system. Briarwood also offers four cottages, with two bedrooms, two full baths with walk-in shower and bathtub; a full kitchen; washer/dryer hook-up; patio; and garage – the ideal option for couples.

Briarwood has a multitude of places that residents can entertain and enjoy beyond their own apartments – a Coca Cola room in which residents celebrate special events with loved ones; a large media room where we host a variety of events – from church services to football parties; a fireside lounge with a huge fireplace; and two dining rooms, one with a baby Grand piano and water fountain. Our small bistro is often the place where our residents’ grandchildren love to spend time. Libraries are located on two floors. Plus there are several fully furnished living rooms located on each floor – perfect for visiting with friends.

The Woodside– our smaller two-story community – is located just across the street. Each studio and one bedroom offers the same amenities as Briarwood. Here at Woodside, you can literally feel the warm family-like atmosphere and dedication of our caregivers the moment you step through the doors.

Woodside has fewer common spaces, but residents take full advantage of the space available. For example, after breakfast, it’s common to see residents in the living room, sitting area and lobby, chatting over coffee or reading the paper. Woodside also has a smaller media room, its own dining room and open sitting areas throughout the community.

The campus itself is beautifully landscaped – a pond and courtyard are located just behind Briarwood, while Woodside also has a back courtyard area with planter boxes and garden space.
