Brookdale Remington Park, formerly Emeritus at Elmbrook Estates, is a Lubbock, Texas Assisted Livingmunity, located in a residential neighborhood just off 66th Street and Slide Road. We’re easy to find – right behind the Hobby Lobby craft store and just on the other side of Loop 289 from the South Plains Mall. Restaurants abound – with Rock Fish, Rudy’s Barbeque, Fuddruckers and Olive Garden among our residents’ favorites.
The public library is just across the street, and a grocery store, Wal-Mart and movie complex are ten minutes or less from our community. Several hospitals are in the area, including Grace Medical Center, Lubbock Heart Hospital, Covenant Medical Center and University Medical Center – all within 15 to 20 minutes. The local fire station is just to our west, ensuring that should there be a medical emergency, first responders are here in minutes.
A Wonderful Selection
Our two-story senior living community offers 97 spacious senior apartments, including a mix of one-bedroom configurations, L-shaped alcoves and studios ranging from 400 to 550-square feet. Of the 97 apartments, 17 one-bedroom units are located in our new wing built in 2005. All of our apartments include a private bathroom, refrigerator, individually controlled heat and air conditioning, wall-to-wall carpeting and all utilities (including cable), except telephone. While each apartment is decorated in lovely earth tones, residents are welcome to repaint and decorate any way they wish with their own personal belongings and furniture. In addition to weekly laundry services, which are included in the monthly rent, complimentary laundry facilities are also located throughout our community. Pets are welcome, as long as we have vaccination records. We prefer dogs under 35 pounds, but will consider larger animals on an individual basis.
Our common areas include a front lobby with fireplace, piano and sitting area, as well as a spacious dining room with a 30-foot ceiling and balcony. Our dining room is ideal for large gatherings, especially when outside groups such as choirs and bands come into our community to entertain residents. In addition, we have a small private dining room that residents can reserve for special family gatherings, as well as a full kitchen available for residents’ use. Two lobby areas and large TV room provide ample space for sing-alongs, prayer meetings, card and board games, and quiet relaxation. We also have an on-site beauty salon open most weekdays. A courtyard outside is located between our main building and our new wing. Pathways, mature landscaping, flowers and bird feeders create an outdoor oasis. An outside smoking area is also available.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
An onsite home health agency supports the rehabilitation needs of most residents, with services provided in a dedicated therapy room. Therapists can also work with residents right in their apartment. Of course, should they prefer to use their own therapists, residents are always welcome to work with whomever they choose. Through our partnerships with local hospice providers, as well as with private sitters, residents who require additional care can often “age in place,” so that, for the most part, they aren’t forced to move into a skilled nursing facility. Podiatrists also pay house calls. On weekdays, we provide transportation to medical appointments.
A Wonderfully Active Lifestyle
Throughout the day, we offer many opportunities for residents to partake in activities and events. These include an exercise program held three times a week, all kinds of games from bingo to trivia, reminiscing programs, arts and crafts, Saturday morning coffee socials, church services and a very active Bridge Club that participates in competitions. In addition, we love to plan all kinds of social gatherings and activities: monthly birthday parties, Valentine’s Day dances, movie nights, holiday family dinners, our Men’s Lunch Bunch and Women’s Lunch Bunch, outings to the mall – just to name just a few. We also bring in entertainment on a regular basis, from country singers and jazz musicians to pianists and church choirs. We go to see live music and theater productions at the Cactus Theater in Lubbock’s Depot Entertainment District. Special trips are also planned to points of interest outside of the Lubbock area, including Ragtown Gospel Theater in Post, Buffalo Springs Lake and Ransom Canyon to see Christmas lights and Apple Country for apple picking and lunch.
Fine Dining
Our lovely dining room is set up three times a day, welcoming residents to each meal. Just like in a fine restaurant, we come to each table, take the resident’s order and serve them, table-side. At breakfast, we offer hot and cold cereals, fruit, bacon and sausage, made-to-order eggs as well as biscuits and gravy twice a week. Lunch is our main meal. We always provide one main entrée and an alternative to ensure residents have a choice. And we often have special social activities structured around food. For example, we have ice cream socials, coke float parties and our Saturday morning socials with coffee and donuts. We also provide additional snacks created especially for our residents with diabetes.
