Brookdale Roanoke is within 30 minutes of Virginia Tech, Smith Mountain Lake and the Bedford D-Day Memorial.

At Brookdale Roanoke, we specialize in dementia and "senior-living-solutions/memory-care/" title="Alzheimer's Care Communities - About Our Communities - Emeritus Senior Living">Alzheimer’s care. We have 56 private apartments which are fully furnished, and include half baths. Our community is divided into four individual homes that truly reflect a home-like environment (kitchen, living and dining areas).
The community is all on one level which makes it easy to navigate and get to all common areas. Our common areas give residents and their loved ones the opportunity to get to know one another and interact in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. Our large outdoor courtyard is accessible from anywhere in the community.
For families who need a short-term living solution for their loved one, or would like to see if our community is a good match for them; we offer short-stay/respite programs.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
At Brookdale Roanoke, we’ve developed strong professional relationships with the largest health-care providers in our area, including Roanoke Memorial and Lewis Gale Medical Center.
Rehabilitation services are provided on-site five days a week by Genesis Rehabilitation, including physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. We also contract with a house physician and house psychiatrist.
We pride ourselves in having close working relationships with numerous professionals within our community and the surrounding area. These relationships benefit not only our residents, but their friends and family members as well.

All our team members are specially trained to care for those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia and are committed to being compassionate, kind and understanding of our residents’ needs. Our staff’s goal is to help our residents maintain quality of life and allow them the dignity to live their lives in a way that feels familiar to them.
A Wonderful, Active Lifestyle
Our activities are developed from the detailed life stories we gather from each resident. We want to understand your loved one’s hobbies, careers and interests; and turn these ideas into activities they can participate in every day. These activities are personalized, conducted in large and small groups and involve both the community staff and residents.
Our dementia-related activities include memory kits, individualized activity baskets based on our residents’ past hobbies, and life care stations which provide a fun atmosphere while enhancing occupational skills.
Our community conducts weekly ice cream socials, as well as monthly birthday celebrations. We hold quarterly family events to encourage family partnerships. Daily activities include exercise, current events, and memory stimulation activities. Our residents enjoy weekly cooking activities with our Dining Services Director.
We also have outside volunteer involvement that includes pet therapy, music, dance and arts & crafts.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Brookdale Roanoke is very involved in the local community. We are affiliated with the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and work closely with the Center for Healthy Aging. Our community participates yearly in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the Grandparents Day Celebration. We partner with Music for Memories, Christmas in July, and Be a Santa to a Senior.
Fine Dining
Our residents are served delicious homemade Southern-style meals in our quaint, homey dining rooms. Our dining experience is like having a family dinner.
