Details About Joan's House of Hope

Family Care in the Fox Valley, Inc. was established due to the personal vision of a woman, Joan Waldusky who experienced Traumatic Brain Injury and later in life was diagnosed with the terminal disease Huntington’s chorea. Joan has a dream and vision of starting a faith based home for other women to be cared for and reside in after her imminent death. We are fortunate to witness Joan seeing her visionpleted in her lifetime, through the formation of Family Care in the Fox Valley, Inc. Our not-for-profit incorporation has been brought to fruition through the hard work of Joan’s husband, Robert Waldusky, family friend and investor Jesse Nitzske, the dedication and hard work of Zandy Moes our house manager/RN, along with community and faith based donations.

We received licensure from the State of Wisconsin for an Adult Family Home on December 15, 2009. The Adult Family Home is titled Joan’s House of Hope after Joan Waldusky, the woman with the dream and vision. Joan’s House of Hope is located at 861 Betty Avenue in Neenah, Wisconsin and serves several surronding counties. Joan’s House, an Adult Family Home (AFH) is licensed for three adult women, which have one or more of the following diagnoses; Developmentally Disabled (DD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or mild to moderate cognitive difficulties. The goal of Family Care in the Fox Valley, Inc. is to become a model in the community and State for Adult Family Homes by assisting our residents to not only maintain their admitted level of independence, but to assist them in achieving higher levels of acuity, self-direction, and participation within the community.

We are committed to training our 24/7 in-house staff, not only with State & Federal mandated education information components, but on-going training to assist our staff to be successful in ensuring the optimal quality outcomes for our residents. We bring confident well trained individuals together as the Family Care in the Fox Valley, Inc. Care Team, and increase their level of success as professional care staff.

What is unique about Family Care in the Fox Valley, Inc.?
First of all, we are a not-for-profit incorporation that has a Christian based Board of Directors that passionately care about people and our community, many Adult Family Homes are private or corporate owned homes that focus on profits primarily and resident’s secondary. Not only is our focus or our residents care as we strive to help them achieve greater levels of self-dependence and self reliance but also the individuals that we employee, focusing on staff training that reaches far above the mandated State & Federal training components but additionally we focus on personal development and higher levels of compensation for all our staff.

Because of this higher level of commitment we have to our residents, employees and community we serve, Shared Core Values were developed and are adhered to in every aspect.
