Brookdale Woodward Estates, formerly Emeritus at Woodward Estates, is a Bowie, MD "senior-living-solutions/assisted-living/">Assisted Living munity for seniors.  Nestled in the heart of the Bowie Health Campus on Health Center Drive and close to Routes 50, 301, I-495 and I-95, our community is near numerous medical facilities including Larkin Chase Care and Rehabilitation Center and Bowie Health Center, giving our residents a real sense of security should they ever need immediate off-site medical care. In addition, we are located directly across from the Bowie Town Center Mall with its many shops and restaurants for residents and their families to enjoy. We also share Health Center Drive with such neighbors as Prince George Fire Department and the Bowie Senior Center.

A Wonderful Selection

Brookdale Woodward Estates offers a total of 80 senior apartments, including studios, deluxe studios and one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. For residents who either don’t want to live alone or who wish to save on rent, we also offer friendship suites where two residents share an apartment. All senior apartments include one or two full baths, kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave, blinds and wall-to-wall carpeting. Residents can decorate their apartments however they’d like and can bring in their own furniture. We also offer fully furnished apartments. Internet service is available and all apartments are individually climate-controlled and completely maintenance free inside and out. We always welcome small pets and treat them just like members of our family.

On the first floor of our building, we offer several common areas including our spacious dining room where residents enjoy their meals, a library for reading and relaxation, our “country kitchen” where we hold cooking classes, a living room with television and cozy fireplace, an activities room where residents can often be seen playing Scrabble and our Triple Crown Pub which is the perfect spot for happy hour. Off the dining room is a spacious gated courtyard for sun, leisure and cookouts as well as many sidewalks for folks who love to walk outdoors. The second floor features a gym with a variety of exercise equipment available anytime for our fitness conscious residents. The gym is also used by our partner, Genesis Rehabilitation which provides onsite physical, occupational and speech therapy. In addition, another spacious living room, a balcony with all kinds of beautiful houseplants cared for by our own residents and the famous Belair Room where residents never miss their twice-weekly bingo games are located on the second floor. Should residents not be able to walk up and down our spiral staircase located in the center of the building, we have two elevators on each side of the community.

Strong, Caring, Professional Relationships

We nurture strong relationships with area hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and several rehabilitation centers including Anne Arundel Hospital, Crofton Rehabilitation and Spa Creek. Through the communications and relationships we share with staff at these affiliations, we are able to provide seamless care for our residents. In addition, we partner with Genesis Rehabilitation, which comes to our community five days a week to provide physical, occupational and speech therapy. Services are either provided in our gym or in the resident’s apartment. In addition, Genesis provides a complimentary physical therapy assessment when a new resident first moves into our community.

Our spacious, open and bright senior living community offers several common areas in which our residents can relax, socialize and participate in such favorite activities as bingo, Scrabble, current event discussions, bible studies and much more. And with easy access to several major highways, we can reach Washington D.C. in just 15 minutes and we’re within 45 minutes in the opposite direction of the charming waterside community of Annapolis. This close proximity gives us the opportunity to take residents on frequent outings to enjoy the many museums and historical attractions that this special part of the Northeast has to offer.

Our life enrichment program provides a wide range of activities including social events, holiday events, theme days, game groups, exercise programs, cooking classes, current event discussions, happy hour in our pub, monthly birthday parties and bingo played twice a week We also have a Scrabble club, sage club (which brings in speakers to address topics of interest to seniors) and a men’s club. In addition, we offer bible study, Christian fellowship and non-denominational church services.

Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community

Our community partners with the Bowie Health Center for its annual health fair. Held on Health Care Drive, it’s like a block party for healthcare. Our residents can take advantage of more than 40 free or low-cost screening services ranging from such alternative health care options as acupuncture and Reiki to cholesterol and glucose testing, EKGs, glaucoma and vision tests and more. In addition, numerous vendors are on hand to showcase their offerings and provide information. And many of the facilities along Health Care Drive are open for tours including Bowie Health Center, Bowie Physical Medicine Services, Bowie Senior Center, Dimensions Surgery Center, Prince Georges County Fire and EMS Department Northview Station #816 and Summerville at Woodward Estates.

From socials to educational programs, Brookdale Woodward Estates hosts monthly events for residents, family members and the community-at-large. In addition, we partner closely with the Bowie Senior Center which is also located on Health Center Drive. Every week, our residents visit the center where just about every hour of the day something is planned, from computer and yoga classes to a writers’ group and bridge club.

Fine Dining

Three meals are served up fresh in the dining room daily. Our experienced chefs offer two entrees to select from and an “always available, light fare” menu. Residents are waited on just like in a restaurant with our staff taking food orders and then bringing their meals which are always served on fine china. Residents can sit back, relax and enjoy conversation with one another. Our dining service director takes great pride in what he serves and frequently walks around the dining room to talk with residents and to make sure they’re happy with his selections.
