Details About Brookdale Las Vegas

Brookdale Las Vegas, formerly Emeritus at Las Vegas, is among the premier Las Vegas assisted livingmunities, and also provides Alzheimer’s care for seniors. It is conveniently located less than two miles from the Las Vegas Strip, on the corner of E. Russell Road and McLeod Drive. I-95 is just a few blocks from our community and Desert Springs Hospital is a short drive north. Wal-Mart is so close, many residents are able to get there on their wheelchair scooters (although we also take residents there in our van on a weekly basis). With so much available in the immediate area, we never have any difficulty finding great, local lunch and dinner spots or shows to attend. Right here in Las Vegas is another resident favorite – Springs Preserve, a 180-acre preserve featuring museums, galleries, outdoor concerts and events, colorful botanical gardens and an interpretive trail system. Residents also enjoy the occasional trip to the Hoover Dam and the Valley of Fire.

A Wonderful Selection

Our single-story community offers a total of 61 senior apartments, 45 for our assisted living residents and 16 studios in our memory care neighborhood. Everything is included in the monthly rent, from weekly housekeeping, meals, activities and transportation to doctors’ appointments and outings. We have several common areas including two living rooms, one of which has a large flat-panel TV and doubles as a library, an activities room, a beauty salon and an enclosed outdoor courtyard accessible only from the inside. Our memory care neighborhood is located in a separate, secured area of our community and has its own secured, outside area. All of the doors in our senior living community have alarms to ensure resident security.

Strong, Caring Professional Relationships

Based upon physician orders, we can bring in any home health or rehabilitation service required to provide services in the convenience of the resident’s apartment. Services can include physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as skilled nursing and hospice care.

Our Staff

Las Vegas tends to be a more transient community so it’s rare to see such staff loyalty as we enjoy at our community. While it might be cliché to say, they truly go above and beyond for residents.

We have two separate groups of staff, one dedicated to our assisted living residents and  the other to our memory care residents. Both receive ongoing training. Our memory care staff receives additional training in understanding Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as in Brookdale’s Clare Bridge Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care program.

A Wonderful, Active Lifestyle

We are a busy senior living community in Las Vegas, Nevada where our residents love to join in all kinds of activities. They play every kind of game, from bridge to bingo to all kinds of poker games. Every morning, we have a chair-exercise program and throughout the week, we offer arts and crafts. In fact, several of our residents are wonderful artists. We have a yarn club, weekly movie nights with fresh popcorn, monthly family nights during which family members join us for dessert and all kinds of entertainment from musical performances to magicians. Every holiday is celebrated in style. Non-denomination church services are held on Sunday, with Catholic mass on Thursday and bible studies on Saturday.

Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community

Our senior living community is a sponsor of the local Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk, the largest fund-raising event of its kind for Alzheimer’s research. Many of our staff members, and even some of our family members, join us each year. Every year, we also hold a rummage sale, with the proceeds going to our residents’ counsel to purchase whatever they wish.

Fine Dining

Three meals a day, served restaurant-style, are included in the monthly rent. We always offer two entrees at lunchtime – our largest meal of the day. Dinner also includes an alternative menu with choices such as salads, hamburgers, sandwiches and soups. We welcome recipes from our residents and will occasionally include the item on the menu, along with giving credit to the resident. We also have a hydration station in the foyer where we serve freshly-baked Otis Spunk Meyer cookies, fresh fruit and all kinds of beverages – especially important during our hot summer months.

Horrible assisted living facility with over 70 health department violations
My mom was at Brookdale Las Vegss for almost 18 months. It was dirty and horribly disorganized. There were three directors during the 18 months. When we thought it couldn't get worse Brookdale bought all of the Emeritus assisted living center. Brookdale increased the monthly fee by 50% in six months, ran out of food daily, and had the fire department and the police in the place at least 4'times in a month. The department of health should shut this place down!

Terrible care since Brookdale bought this facility
Don't let your elderly parent live here. The staff turn over is very high, six administrators in 2 years, rate increases every six months and they have over 50 negative findings from state inspections.
