One of worse nursing homes in Pittsburgh!!!
I was a resident in Skyview and it was a nightmare! I was a resident there for 3 or 4 months. I had to call the State and Ombudsman several times because of Nursing staff verbally abusing me and another 30+ year old patient. The CNA's used to abuse the elderly men patients while giving them showers! One RN I had to call the Pittsburgh Police on because she wouldn't get out of my way while I was trying to drive my electric wheelchair. The officer explained to her that was assault not letting me move my electric wheelchair. The Nurse called my doctor who-the doctor began verbally abusing me as well. The doctor who was the medical director at the time called me names and said I didn't have a disease but he didn't know his partner already given me the test that proved I had the disease. The place constantly stunk of urination, the CNA's was lazy and they never wanted to help. The administrator let me borrow one of their old computers and I found employee records on the computer. I went to the administrator and told him what I found, he let me have another computer. A DAY or so later the nurse who wouldn't get out of my way had the administrator go in my room she was screaming I had her employee files!!! The Administrator told me I do not have to let the nurses or anyone search my room. I gave them permission to ease the crazy Rn's mind. I never had her records or any employee of Sky views records. I got so sick from the drama I was hospitalized in West Penn where I told West Penn don't send me back to Sky View. IT GETS WORSE!! When I called the State Surveyors from the Pennsylvania Department of Health after a I filed several complaints of resident abuse and neglect, one of the Surveyors called the police on me saying I scratched her car-Guess what her and the Rn were friends and went to nursing school together!! State surveyors are Registered Nurses. Registered nurses can not diagnose patients but both of those two whacky nurses tried to say I had bipolar. That wanted me to look so bad. Thank goodness for the ombudsman, she filed the correct reports. Residents got beat up in that hell hole. I used to drive my electric wheelchair to North View Heights to take the women- cna's home after their shift from Sky View they told me what they did to patients that hit them, spat on them or didn't listen to them. They said when a patient gets a shower that's when they torture the patients either by turning on hot water on the poor patient or cold water, One woman-cna said she pinched an elderly patients private parts while in the shower several times. That was the last time I escorted the women-cna's home. When I reported the incident I received death threats from the staff...Again the State did nothing. Skyview my was 12th nursing home I was a resident of. Sad to say I went another that was even worse than Sky View after I left West Penn hospital. That's when I decided to start my own investigative agency to report nursing home abuse and neglect. When I was looking for lawyers there were none to be found. Bob Casey was the Auditor General then. He wasn't much help.
