Details About Brookdale Sleepy Hollow

Brookdale Sleepy Hollow, formerly Emeritus at Seville Estates, is an Amarillo, Texas Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Caremunity for seniors. We are conveniently located in the peaceful Sleepy Hollow neighborhood of Amarillo, between SW 34th Avenue and W 45th Avenue, just down from Reid’s Coulter Gardens & Nursery. Our location is also near I-40 and I-27, which provides easy access to many amenities in the area, like Westgate Mall, Wal-Mart and Amarillo’s medical district. Amarillo’s Medical district includes Northwest Texas Healthcare System and BSA Health System – to name a few. Our community is in a great location to be able to provide a variety of outings for our residents. We can go bowling at Western Bowl. We can take a walk and see all the beautiful flowers at our local botanical gardens. We can also go to Meade Park, our favorite picnic spot. Sometimes we go to our favorite Mexican restaurant or grab ice cream at Brahms. Every fall we make a special trip to the small Texas Panhandle town of Canadian to see the beautiful foliage.

A Wonderful Selection

Our small, close-knit community features 45 apartments and a family feel – perfect for the comfort and relaxation of your loved one. There are 27 studios, with three different sizes and styles. We can accommodate a variety of needs and budgets. All apartments include a kitchenette with refrigerator and cabinets, a large handicapped-accessible bathroom, wall-to-wall carpeting, individual temperature controls and large windows offering lovely views – some of our courtyard and others overlooking Coulter Gardens. Residents are also provided emergency call pendants, which they can utilize anytime they need assistance. Pets are also welcome.

Additionally, our community offers several common areas for assisted living residents, including an activities room with a TV area, a large living room and dining room. Although we are a small single-level community, our building is spread over a wide area and has three separate courtyards. All three offer mature landscaping and walking paths. One courtyard is enclosed for our memory care residents.

In our Memory Care Neighborhood, our residents have the option of having their own studio, or they can share a “Friendship Suite,” a great option if the resident is not accustomed to living alone – or for families who wish to save on rent. A total of 18 apartments are available. In addition, residents have access to a comfortable kitchen area, where we often serve them lunch, as well as their own dining room.

Strong, Caring Professional Relationships

We partner closely with three different home health agencies, which come into our community typically three days a week, to provide physical, occupational and speech therapy. Residents and their families may choose to use one of these agencies – or we can refer them to others in the area. It’s always their choice. Either way, we can coordinate appointments for our residents. In addition, one of our home health agencies is able to help residents with diabetes, and should a resident require a higher level of skilled nursing services, we can bring in outside hospice care.

Our Staff

We have two dedicated groups of staff – one for our assisted living residents, and a second for residents with memory impairments. Many staff members have been with us for many years. Not only are they dedicated to our residents, but they are also especially helpful to our families and go above and beyond to support them as needed.

Our assisted living staff includes Resident Aids, who provide one-on-one assistance with daily care; Med Aids, who are available 24 hours a day to manage our residents’ medication needs; a full-time Activities Director, and a Wellness Coordinator.

Our memory care staff includes a dedicated staff of caregivers. They are truly special people – extremely patience and understanding. They work hard to overcome any obstacle that might stand in the way to providing the best care possible.

A Wonderful Active Lifestyle

Our assisted living community is party central! There is always a reason to celebrate! We celebrate everything from combined monthly birthday parties to festive holiday celebrations to Family Nights, held every few months. Recently, we held a coffee party! Additionally, there are many outside groups that visit our community throughout the year to entertain residents.

Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community

Once a month, we are involved with the community-at-large, whether it’s sponsoring a breakfast at the annual Alzheimer’s Conference held at a local college, participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk or hosting a Chamber of Commerce event. We also invite the community of local caregivers – from home agencies, doctors’ offices and hospitals, among others – to join us for such social activities as our summertime Margarita party and wine tastings.

Fine Dining

We serve three meals a day, restaurant style – and three meals and three snacks to our Memory Care residents – every day. Everything is made fresh, right here in the community. A large breakfast starts the day off right, with cereals, juices, coffee and tea and an entrée such as eggs, toast and bacon or pancakes and sausages. Lunch is our main meal of day and features a choice of two entrees, rolls, salad and dessert much like big family Sunday dinners of days gone by. At dinner, we offer a lighter fare, along with five standard plates each night, such as a chef salad or fruit plate, should the resident not want the entrée.
