Wonderful place, with caveat
Comfortable facility, good choices of floor plans, competitive rates. Many staff have been there for years, a number since it opened 11 years ago, and are happy, caring individuals. Most residents appear happy and/or content. Food is good but it isn't made clear to new residents that if the meal doesn't provide enough food they can ask for more. Security is reasonable but could be better. All residents and staff wear tracking devices. Unfortunately tracking devices worn by residents do not set off alerts when they step outside the building, so it's possible for anyone whose brain progresses to the "wanderer" stage to disappear in the middle of the night (and if this happens the facility's management will insist on immediate removal of the resident.) Highly recommend the facility for people who have no significant brain problems and just need the normal support for daily activities. Not recommended for someone in the very early stages of Alzheimer's or dementia due to the security issue and subsequent administrative response. (Comments based on experiences during the end of June 2014 when we moved our father into then out of The Laurels.)
