Senior Care By "Leisure Care"
Leisure Care is more retirement living and independent living than assisted living but we are trying to expand the directory to include every solution for seniors (watch out retirementhomes.com). Leisure Care is a secondary addition to this web site since they are mainly focused on independent living and retirement living. Starting in 2010, we are including these resources in our directory. Leisure Care has a combination of mid and high-end facilities. The new facility in Boulder, CO is spectacular and built in one of the most expensive areas in Boulder. The construction is top notch and the standard of living is more similar to a 5-star hotel than an average senior care facility. Some of the other facilities, like The Reserve at Thousand Oaks look like a converted apartment building from the 1960s. Once again, the outside of the facility is not the most important variable when selecting senior care but as I am scouting out the best options for my own retirement, I hope that I can afford to live in a place that I am proud of. I expect to live in a facility that is similar in aesthetic appeal to the home I will leave when I move into a senior care facility. Leisure Care operate facilities in the US and Canada. The big pitch on their website is that they treat both their customers and their employees with respects. Something that everyone needs more of. To quote their website: "We must admit that we're a bit obsessive about respect around here" Leisure Care Retirement Communities is owned by One Eighty. This connection is a little weird. Search on One Eighty Twist to see information about the parent company, who is into golf, NASCAR, Hospitality and senior care. The "Twist" is because they present themselves as branding experts. The kind of organization that can put a good "Twist" on anything regardless of how ugly. Their web site reminds me of an MTV web site so try not to hold their "Madmen' hyper-marketing corporate image against them when it comes to selecting a senior facility.
